-Abstract-
This study is preliminarily executed to develop Korean Version of ABI (Adaptive
Behavior Inventory) for identifying abilities of self help, communication, social
interaction, academic tasks. Subjects were 124 students with mental retardation and 82
normal students.
The internal consistency of the items on the Korean Version of ABI was
investigated using Cronbach's α. The coefficient alpha for the subtests ranged from .85
to .94, and were sufficiently reliable. Also, all test-retest correlation coefficients were
beyond the .01 level of statistically significance. In addition, criterion-reference and
construct validity were all statistically significant.
As a result, this study suggest the scale can be used for identifying the abilities of
social adaptation of persons with mental retardation.
